careful yearning
stretching past the usual
boundaries

soul to soul
mind to mind
pretense stripped bare
only honesty remains

meeting in the mind
touching each other’s essence
physicality is not required
though often longed for

the connection is made
and must be tended
lest once again
this new cohesion be lost
