after
so many years
of knowing you
loving you

you might think
the fiery passions
of my love would
threaten
to flicker out

but you would be wrong

apparently
this passion is
a ground fire

smoldering
beneath the surface
all-consuming

awaiting its chance
to burn through
and reignite
the inferno
