dancing in the dark

dancing in the dark
alone in the universe
even in a crowd
even in sunlight
drinking each other in
like the last ounce of water
in the middle of the desert
nourishing each other
growing together
feeling the need build
but knowing this is not the time
knowing this is not the place
not knowing this was
the only chance
they would ever have
until long after
their time was done
