headed home 04/16/10

hour after hour
i drive

over rivers
the ohio
the kentucky
the tennessee
the chattahootchee

through city after city
cincinnatti
lexington
knoxville

over the appachians
through valleys

but oddly
after ten hours
behind the wheel

i feel as though
i have not moved

i have simply sat in my car
behind the wheel

and watched as
the world flowed past me
